The rise in crime and violence in Latin America, particularly in Peru, has driven punitive responses that, far from reducing crime, reinforce stigma, increase fear and distrust, and fragment the social fabric. As a result, more prisons are built, the prison population grows, sentences become harsher, and the isolation and dehumanization of people deprived of liberty deepens.

In response, creativity and art can open other paths. Through artistic production, we hope to develop different narratives about people deprived of liberty and their experiences, offering other ways of understanding prison and the people connected to it.
